Fat the Next Eternal Flame War? Ever since I can remember, there's been one argument out there on the web that goes health and fitness in circles. Again, and again, and again. It's "Mac versus PC". It's a stupid argument, a silly waste of everyone's time, and one of the least productive "flame wars" out there. But now I'm starting to wonder if "fat versus thin" is the next flame war that won't go away. I'd like to direct you to this LiveJournal entry. It is health and fitness a link on a fellow's blog to the news that, collectively, fat people need bigger needles for injections. It was discussed here in the Forums. But check that out: 650+ comments. Look through some of them, and you'll see lots of gems. Some people support fat acceptance, but most go back and forth about healthy versus unhealthy, "slightly" fat people versus "morbidly obese" people, and the like. |

Chicago's Buses To Get Bigger Seats Good news: Chicago's CTA and Pace (suburban) buses will have wider low carb dining seats starting next year. low carb dining They're going up from 17.5" (44.45cm) across to 18" (45.72cm) across. Despite the small increase, this will make Chicago's bus seats the biggest in the nation. Despite the few spoil-sports quoted in the article (Dave Grotto, a dietitian and spokesman for the American Dietetic Association, who trots out the "Fat people are costing us more in healthcare, and now we're seeing the result of the obesity epidemic" whine), I see this as a positive move. |
