She may be trying, but she sure does have a long way to go. I don't think I have ever once in my life cried for buying clothes from a plus size catalog or the "fat ladies section", nor do I necessarily agree that we ALL would be thinner if we could, & I certainly do not agree that 360tvdh any disease is "caused" by "obesity", anymore than I agree that I am "obese." Her daughter has a lot to learn, but I know she is a product of our culture. This woman only outweighs me by about 15 pounds, she isn't even all that fat, & I guess I expect more from people by now, I am getting spoiled by spending so much time in communication with people who outweigh her by 100 pounds or more, but love & respect themselves & feel comfortable in their bodies. |

| turtlegrrl, I disagree. While it isn't a super "rah rah rah!" fat acceptance article, it also doesn't go out and applaud weight loss surgery, either. I am going by what others said in discussing in on the gabcafe. I was mostly impressed by what one woman said about chat uk how this woman takes verbal abuse from her child for her weight & does not stand up for herself, but seems to be shamed by her daughter's attitude, etc. I will check it out, &, if reading the article changes my mind, I will certainly say so. However, I think most of us have read & heard plenty of things about how awful it is to be fat & how we deserve to have our children be ashamed of us, etc., & I really prefer to concentrate on pride, self-esteem, & true self-acceptance, & not apologizing anymore to anyone for my body, most certainly not to my children, which I never did even at my worst fat-hating point. |
