Posted by feisty on September 22, 2003 12:01 PM. I thought the article was very good at pointing out the strange dichotomy in fat black woman our society between what we are and what we claim to be. Raising children in such a environment isn't easy but you can help them simply by treating size the same as you do skin color: it's just one aspect of a person, neither positive nor negative. I'm tall, my wife is big, and our two daughters are both. I can't recall a conversation around size in our family. It's fat black woman not a taboo subject, though, fat black woman it's just less important than other things. I hope her kids eventually see it that way too.
