"Our place" often is out of sight and out of mind. doug mcintyre One way to distinguish between powerful people and the rest of us is by observing how easily the powerful people travel. Futurist Buckminster Fuller doug mcintyre talked about national boundaries as the great divide between the powerful and the not-so-powerful. People in government, military, business and religion, he noted, doug mcintyre can cross borders at will with little effort. Sure, some paperwork is involved; but the systems of crossing usually are geared toward these people, making it easy for them to fill out the paperwork and get on with their business. The common person is not able to cross without explicit permission from the powers that be. Fuller suggested that such distinctions make borders an obsolete concept in a global world. I would add to Fuller’s analysis. Powerful people have the means to go places.
