I artist have known many...& I am related to quite a few...who lived well into their 80's & 90's. I have long-lived genes, & I also have very healthy habits, & I certainly don't consider myself "sick" in any sense of the word. Posted by Patsy Nevins on July 28, 2003 08:26 PM. Patsy, you are absolutely correct. One issue that gets skimmed over quite often is the connection between weight and osteoporosis. Fact is, women who weigh MORE are at LESS risk for osteoporosis artist than thin women; the highest artist risk group is thin white women. Carrying the extra weight actually helps make the bones stronger, just as weight lifting does. (That's not even counting the fact that women who are trying to lose weight often stop consuming dairy products, their primary natural source of calcium.)
