Many of them are among the most beautiful women on whom I have ever laid eyes, so that says a lot about our culture. My mother survived a ruptured appendix, followed by peritonitis in 1943, with 3 days in a coma, at a time when medicine was far from what it is now. She also survived & recovered from having a a kidney removed 15 years later (she inherited kidney disease from her grandfather, who was thin, & her father, who was of average weight, a both of whom died of it), & a lived another 40 years after that. She lived to 85, despite having emphysema from my father's second-hand smoke, weighing most of her adult life between 210 & 230 at 5'5". My grandmother enjoyed excellent health, outlived 3 husbands (the last 13 years her junior) & numerous boyfriends (the last a skinny guy nearly immobilized by arthritis who was 11 years her junior), at lived to be 90 at 185-195 pounds at 5'4".
