Assertions that being fat puts one at risk for certain diseases can be disputed on points 2 & 3: Point 2 because no one really can say when the onset of diseases humor occurs. Take diabetes, for example, so perhaps the diabetes has the symptom of weight gain, which would make diabetes a cause of being fat (or humor at least a contributing factor). Point 3 because there are several possible alternative explanations. If we are talking lifestyle, the correlation between fatness and some diseases may be spurious relationship from both being related to lack of activity (I'm not saying fat people are inactive, I'm saying that fat people frequently have to cope with a hostile world that limits their ability to exercise and their access to health care).
