Sad story. In re: Queen Latifah, in an interview with a music industry (not mainstream) magazine, she said that mountains her recent weight loss (20 pounds by her report) was a side effect of the weightlifting regimen she got into to strengthen her back after her breast reduction. |

VH1 is currently running (as I type) a series of specials about celebrity weight matters. butter A lot of the folks we've been talking about here were featured. A couple of stories really leapt out at me as truly sad. John Popper, for one, seems to have been pressured into butter GBS after his heart surgery. He was quite young to have the heart problems that he did, butter but given his money and his realization that he did not have healthy habits (he seemed to admit, long before he had WLS, that he binged regularly) I don't see why he didn't (and he admits that he didn't) pursue natural changes with the help of nutrition counseling, a trainer, a therapist or whoever might have helped him to get fit without mutilation. Missy Elliott too seems to have caved to medical pressure, scare tactics from a doctor in response to a trend of high blood pressure -- a condition which runs in Missy's family and was responsible for a number of premature deaths from strokes. |
