I'd say that there's a huge clause on that: collectively, TV audiences want to see normal (sized) people when there's a change afoot. I'm thinking of The Biggest Loser (weight loss), Trading Spouses (fish out of water), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (redecorating with a lot of sweetness thrown in as a hook).
