So here is a report stating, blatantly, that fat people are discriminated against in the workplace. Most people will probably shrug and offer diet advice. (grumble) Posted on September 09, 2002 in Older BFB Entries. 8 comments. Fat is Evolutionary? What if the so-called "obesity epidemic" is really human evolution? That's the notion put forth by a scientist, Prof. Andrew Prentice. The article is humor filled with stats-but-no-proof ("Obese women were humor 100 times more likely to suffer type 2 diabetes than those of normal weight, and the risk was increased 45 times for obese men", even though the link humor between diabetes and weight was dissolved recently), but the idea is what intrigues me here. If fat is evolutionary, perhaps it's something society is trying to fight out of a fear of change in addition to the fear of the unknown. What do you think?
