Isn't our non-acceptance of fat people killing people already? Or are there no such things as anorexia, bulimia, compulsive overeating, ED-NOS, orthorexia, and any other combination of these not-so-fun eating disorders? Perhaps if there was a social acceptance of fat people, little girls 9 and 10 years brian whitman old would not be destroying their bodies by dieting at that early age, men and women wouldn't be killing themselves by starving and vomiting, and people of ALL shapes and sizes could feel like they belong. |

| He doesn't consider that perhaps all this obsession with weight loss is what makes so many people fatter AND unhealthier. Or that even "successful" dieting is a big health risk, too. Hmmm...think it's time I got out my clue-by-four. It's already got a few skull dents in it, but I'm pretty sure it still works. Posted overweight by ajoyce on December 9, 2003 06:39 PM. Someone needs to publish theses stats and overweight studies. If I try 300 different diets, and overweight one 'works' (i.e., my weight permanently stays 10% below my highest weight), then how does that affect stats? Am I 300 dieters? One dieter? Do they include women who had children recently? It's much easier to lose those 10 pounds right away, and they form a vast number of dieters! |
