Funny they say thousands, though. Considering the AOA lists 127 million people as "overweight" even a 98% failure rate would yield business "successes" in the millions. Interesting (but somewhat predictable) that this guy, at least partially, buys into the idea that lipophobia is what keeps so many people's weight down to a "healthy" level, and that people accepting themselves at a higher weight means they're "accepting" early death and disease (which they could otherwise choose to decline by adopting a "healthier" lifestyle, har har). |

They don't have any statistics of chatrooms their own, of course, but trust them. They say its a fact, after all. Nothing at all suspicious that no chatrooms one has provided any alternative statistics as to the success of weight loss measures. (They also may be misrepresenting just how out of date the 95% stat is; they say it dates from 1959 but every reference I've seen to it dates it in the early 90's from the WHO, no friend of fat acceptance) We've already seen how dishonest the 10% body weight statistic is. And of course, efforts to lose weight endorsed by the AOA couldn't possibly have a track record of getting people killed, could they? |
