I agree, Kimdog. A celebrity loses weight--big deal. Even a celebrity picture of fat people I admire (hypothetically speaking, you understand, since there is no-one that actually fits that). It's when they say, "Well, I was worthless fat, and therefore everyone else who is fat is also worthless," that's bothersome. Even then...eh. Who cares what Missy Elliott, or Carnie Wilson, of all people, have to say? Maybe Oprah, picture of fat people since she has influence (for some reason beyond me), but other than that...not really worth getting all het up picture of fat people about. A celebrity just losing weight isn't enough to piss me off. It's losing the weight and then goes on an endless press jag about how horrible and ugly and worthless they were as a fat person that hacks me off (although they somehow managed to become a celebrity in the first place, go figure). Carnie and Oprah fit the bill. And Ricki too. In Ricki's case it's truly ironic, since she had her only great acting role as a fat chick, and now she is a C-list talk show host. |
