The person who really makes me cringe has not been in ireland chat the limelight for a long time, and her book is out-of-print, but her story really stuck with me. Rosemary Green, author of "Diary of a Fat Housewife" - just read the editorial and customer reviews! I saw her make the talk show circuit over 10 years ago when the book was still ireland chat new, she preached a radical anti-fat, evangelical message - that anyone who says they are happy to be fat is in denial and/or lying, etc. She also displayed such a fierce self-hatred I almost gasped aloud when I saw her on the show - she had made videos of herself when she was fat, jumping up and down so that she could be disgusted at her body and hate herself enough to starve (800 cal a day) down to 135#. |

Ditto games what turtlegrrl said. games What makes me angry about Oprah is that she was so beautiful in "The Color Purple." But if cornered, she will say that she felt her most ugly in that role. I remember when she gave an interview on her weight-loss efforts a long time ago a few years after "The Color Purple" was released. When she won the Emmy for Best Talk show, she said that before the envelope was opened, she prayed that she wouldn't games win it, because her 247 body was too big for television. She has singlehandedly convinced a huge number of Americans that fat people are all hiding behing a wall of shame and self-pity, and that all you need to do to get thin is love yourself (conversely, failing to get thin says nothing about the failure of diets, only about your continuing need for therapy). |
