She said the underlying attitude of many of those people was (paraphrasing), "Well, *I* theatre have to deny myself what I want to eat in order to fit in, *I* have to sweat and starve and I still don't feel like I'm there yet...who do these people think they are to claim that they deserve respect and equality when they haven't done what I've done to earn it?" IOW, "You can't be fat and get away with it." How dare we spend our lives actually doing what we like to theatre do, what we feel we need theatre to do, that doesn't involve running around on a giant hamster wheel 20 hours a week? For that we think we deserve bigger seats, better clothes, doctors who don't think of us as two-headed freaks who stubbornly refuse to amputate our "extra" heads? People on diets are a cranky bunch.
