Obese children are also at risk of developing insulin resistance and NAFLD. Changes poisoning in lifestyle such as reducing or avoiding alcohol, changing diet and/or poisoning losing weight generally produce an improvement or even reversal of the condition. However, it appears that steatosis may be independently poisoning associated with hepatitis C infection, with between 40 and 70 per cent of biopsies of hepatitis C-infected livers showing some evidence of fatty infiltration. It is perhaps most common in people infected with genotype 3, in the absence of other risk factors in their lives. In genotype 1 people with fatty liver, obesity is often a factor. Steatosis may have a negative impact on treatment outcomes for people infected with genotype 1 but not with genotype 3. Indeed, successful treatment often involves a resolution of the steatosis for genotype 3 people. Two recent prospective studies [1], [2] involving patients deemed to have mild hepatitis C on initial biopsy, found a strong, independent connection between steatosis and more rapid fibrosis progression.
