I'm just delighted to see this article and it's research. Sensible. Posted by Carolyn on January 25, photography 2006 10:08 AM. I think her size was mentioned so that people would realize she didn't photography have an axe to grind because she was fat herself. I did note that Marilyn Wann mentioned in FAT!SO? once that Glenn Gaesser was thin, in a similar context. photography Posted by ajoyce on January 25, 2006 08:39 PM. Well, yes, that's EXACTLY why they mentioned it -- and they shouldn't. Why should it matter? Were she fat, would that invalidate her research? Or her intelligence? They're trying to make the point, of course, that she's not just bitter because she's fat and ugly. But the point is, that would not be an issue if she were not female. Why must any discussion involving a woman, whether she is a politician, an astronaut, or if she wins the Nobel Prize, mention what she looks like and, fat woman as in this case, "proof", since she is the mother of two small children, fat woman that she is NOT one of 'us', but is a 'normal' woman?
